Tuesday's Blog

Louise the Cow

We had a surprise visitor today... Louise the Cow! She came on a portable classroom and her caretaker told us how important dairy is for our growing bodies. We learned about different varieties of cows and how a baby cow is called a calf and a mommy is called a heifer. Louise is a brown jersey cow and she recently had a baby so she had a lot of milk. We saw a milk demo, where Louise was hooked up to the milk machine. She mostly ate oats and drank water the whole time but did swat her tail a few times, which she does to keep the flies off of her body.

Our class with Louise the cow.
