Thursday's Blog

 Sneak a Peek Week

It has been so much fun having our family members visit our classroom this week!

Renesmae and her mom.

Zoey and her mommy.

Lilah and her dad.

Luke G. and his mom.

Nora and her dad.

Outside Time

The children enjoyed collecting seeds from the leftover pumpkins Mrs. Helmkamp put on our playground. How fun!

Chapel

Mr. Joshua Eckstein, the DCE at Chapel of the Cross, led early childhood chapel in The Commons today. He taught us about Luther's Rose and what each color of the rose represents. Mr. Eckstein called on volunteers to come up to help him color and our friend, Lyla, was asked to help! Luke G. carried our classroom cross and took up our offering. This week is Reformation Sunday where we remember Martin Luther and how he nailed his ninety-five theses on the door of the church in Wittenberg, Germany.

Twenty-five years ago, Mrs. Talley went to a small church where Mr. Eckstein's dad, Pastor Eckstein, was the pastor. She remembered Joshua when he was a little boy and was even his Sunday School teacher and VBS teacher. It was fun to see him after so many years!

The Letter N

We practiced making the letter N, which is made up of three long lines. We worked with partners.

Centers

Lots of fun during centers today. Several children chose to make a Jack-o-Faces mini book to take home, others made their own Five Little Pumpkin to take home. Hammering golf tees into the pumpkin, the writing center, and working on the printer were popular places to work. We also got out a bowling game!

The Sneaky Squirrel Game
I brought the game, "The Sneaky Squirrel," to school. I taught the class how to play the game in the whole group and then it became a popular center choice!

Reading

Our read aloud was a book tat had us counting. We also made predictions while reading and Luke G. made an accurate prediction... way to go Luke G.!!! Kiss your brain!!!
