Friday's Blog

Fun in the Commons
It was rainy outside so we went to The Commons and had fun there. Some friends moved on the scooters, others played with balls, and some ran around and played tag.

Centers
We wrapped up our fall fun today. Our classroom will look a little different when we return after Thanksgiving Break.

Pumpkin Exploration
I cut open some of the pumpkins from our Farmer's Market and the children enjoyed exploring them. Some children didn't want to touch the gooey, stringy, inside, while others had fun taking out the seeds.

Farmer's Market
This was the last day to explore our Farmer's Market and several children had fun working there.

Thanksgiving Bingo
Some of the students enjoyed playing Thanksgiving bingo.

Sensory Table
The kinetic sand in the sensory table is fun to explore!

Building Together

Painting
The children love to paint. Some will paint a picture almost every single day!

Family Portraits
I wanted to share these fabulous family portraits created by some of our friends.

More Center Fun!

Reading
We read two Thanksgiving books and talked about what we were going to do on Thanksgiving Day. Some friends are staying home while others are going to grandparents' houses.

The children loved this book!

Chapel With Mrs. Helmkamp

Mrs. Helmkamp led chapel in The Commons. She talked about two of the commandments... To Love God With All Your Heart and To Honor Your Neighbor. She held up pictures and the children had to decide which commandment was being illustrated. We sang our November chapel song, please see below. Beckett carried our classroom cross and took up the offering.

Charlie Brown's Thanksgiving

We gathered in The Family Life Center with Mrs. Thomas and Mrs. Cooper's class and watched the cartoon, "Charlie Brown's Thanksgiving." While we watched the movie, we at the foods the characters ate: pop corn, jelly beans, pretzels, and toast (we used graham crackers). Ask your child what he or she ate and what they liked the best about the cartoon.

Mat Man

We built Mat Man one last time, so now everyone in our class has met him! It was fun listening to the song and seeing how each time we built him, he turned out looking a little bit different.

Mat Man!

Center Fun...

Sensory Table

A lot of friends had fun with the kinetic sand in the sensory table. And the sand was scented too!

Making Thanksgiving Turkeys
Some friends chose to make turkeys out of construction paper at the art center. I love how each turkey has its own personality!

Drawing Our Families
Since we are thankful for our families we decided to draw pictures of our families. The children who chose this activity spent a lot of time on their creations.

Thanksgiving Food
The children cut out photos from grocery ads and glued them on a paper plate to show their friends what they would eat for Thanksgiving.
