We read this story yesterday, so today
we just briefly talked about apple
trees......
the trunk
the branches
the leaves
and the apples...

We then later did a STEM activity
with making our own apple trees

Teegan was our invocation leader

For Jesus Time
I retold the story of Moses
with a flannel board story

The children really enjoy the flannel board story!!!!

The children we brainstorming ideas of things they
might want to learn about at school

Right as we started talking about things we
want to learn about...
a squirrel ran up the tree right outside our
window...... which captured the attention of everyone....

So of course
squirrels made the list
and so did...
animals
boat house
feeding birds
monkey
turning egg carton into a caterpillar
how does the worker make shoes
how to make play doh
outer pace
and
CAMPING

The children were very busy collecting
logs for making a camp fire

some of logs were very heavy

Lots of teamwork!

The boys and girls worked together

 for a very long time

The camp fire keeps growing

It was fun to watch so many
children working to gether
cooperatively

So much fun!!!

Samuel was experimenting to see if he
used the one stick as a hammer if
he could get the other stick to go
deeper into the ground to stand up
on its own

Using the big bucket to bring more
mulch over.....
it required a lot of mulch to help
get the sticks/logs to stand

A few children put the
pieces of the tree trunk out as sitting stones

Charlie created his own slide and maybe
got a little dirty, but he didn't mind
and had fun

Sometimes the logs fell over and we
needed to help
hold while mulch got pushed back up
around it

Dominic said he needed to rest
in front of the campfire

Monroe was prayer leader today

Thank you Eddie for bringing
fruit today!

Blackberries and Bananas

Mystery Bag

A few items that begin with the
same letter....
Apple
Alphabet Blocks

Then we practiced the sound
and I asked the kids to guess what letter
each item starts with

A

A is the letter we are going to be learning

STEM ACTIVITY:

Benefits of STEM ACTIVITIES:
gets kids excited to learn
breeds curiosity
foster creativity
and can teach cooperative play

I put the children into groups of 2

showed them the supplies:
toilet paper roll(with pre-cut slits)
craft sticks
pipe cleaner
and pom -poms

I then asked them to build an apple tree
they could any of the supplies they
were given and needed to work together

Roselee and Hank were one team

Sabrina and Teegan were a team

Evie and Charlie

Eddie and Samuel

Ryan and Dominic

Finally product

Lots of hard work going on
these two worked hard on their tree

Final Product

The children loved the flannel board SO much
I let this be a choose during center time

Before center tie began
I asked the children to each choose a center they
have never been to before

Some of the children often roate and
switch centers during center time
BUT other choose the
same center everyday and stay there
the whole time.

For some this was a very difficult task

but I wanted to encourage to try different things
in an environment they already feel safe in.
As well as building self confidence
and problem solving skills

Throughout center time
many stayed in the new area the entire time
maybe discovering something new
the enjoyed doing

Blocks surprising is not a center that gets
played in very often but today many came here first

After a little bit
I told the kids if they wanted to go to the area
they are the most comfortable in they could.....

Many of the kids were excited to play with
 the flannel board story

Dominic ended up coming back to art
discovering he liked trying something new.......

Teegan wanted to spend a little
time resting today

I love the creating the happens here!!

Evie enjoyed the writing center and spent a lot
of time writing and delivering notes to many
friends

Sabrina proud to show off her finger puppet!

Exercise Leader, Hank
choose jumping jacks

Jumping jacks requires a little
more room ...
they enjoy doing them but takes a
little planning on each child's part
to make sure they don't
bump into someone else
