Invitation to Play(above picture)
this means...simply that....inviting young learners
into an area to explore, investigate, touch, feel
and manipulate the materials provided independently

I put out the play doh with a variety of loose parts
and a book about spiders...and without any other explanation
just let them create and explore......

Check out the pictures below from morning work time

A new game.....

a variety of mini erasers....  numbers 1-6
written on top row of egg carton as well as the bottom row
and 2 dice...
each child takes a turn rolling the dice and then whatever
number they get..they count out that many erasers and
then put the erasers in that spot of the egg carton until you fill all your spots
1-6......

Eddie exploring the play doh

mini Halloween ornaments....
the kids loved exploring these and we
decided to hang them on our Thankful Tree

A pumpkin counting game

Hank joining in at play doh

Jace enjoying all the different counting games
this morning

Carson playing the mini eraser game

play doh was a popular spot
this morning

Fun hanging ornaments on the tree

Next we did an experiment
First I talked a little about sink and float

Then I showed the kids different items....

A gem....... sank

can't really see it but it is at the bottom

the gourd... floated

So then we tried a lego....
it also floated

So I said.....
put on your thinking caps....

and thinking about what we already know.....
gem...sank
gourd...floated
lego...floated...
what will the pumpkin do.....

I asked each child to come up
and make their predictions(guesses)

It was a small pumpkin and I gave each child a
chance to touch and hold the pumpkin before making
his/her predictions....

Everyone's predictions in.......

It FLOATED!

Then some one said...... what if we put a
bigger pumpkin in.... I bet it will sink

SO what a great learning experience...

we put a bigger pumpkin in
and it floated!!!

Since it was cold and wet out...we
went to the commons

A friend donated these great
 activities to preschool

so the children could rotate around from each
activity or just run

Story Time

Lola was the librarian today

Eddie was the prayer leader

Carly was the snack manager

Thank you Sabrina for bringing bananas

Center Time

Several new activities out today...

Painting with real paint(not just
water colors) I set up the pumpkin so they
could look at the pumpkin and paint what they
saw

Sensory Table
was full of black beans... pumpkin erasers....
could pretend to be picking pumpkins at the pumpkin patch
also there was plastic pumpkins and a variety of other items
to sort and count

This awesome container is FILLED with tons of loose
parts....... I asked each child to come over and use
the loose parts to create a story or picture and then
asked each child to tell me about what he/she did

Dominic..

I will put each child's picture with the story
and put it together in a book...

Not everyone got to do it yet...
but everyone will have a chance

I brought this (toy) coffee maker
from my daughters old toys...
it was a popular toy today

Carly

After a few... I got smart and put their
name tags next to their creations SO
we could see their work better but I will
know who made each creation

Charlie enjoying this sensory item
he told me this was a X-Ray of his hand

And this is a X-Ray of his head

HAnk's name tag was temporarily lost
but many were on the job of solving
the mystery and we did find his name tag

Trente choose running place
as his exercise today
