LEARNING MORE ABOUT HIPPOS
cute YouTube video
https://youtu.be/6Bv9RHe2sWs
Ask your child if they remember anything
we learned today!
Some of the questions the kiddos had about hippos involved
going underwater.
We learned hippos spend most of their time in the water
they have a LARGE head and their eyes, ears, nose are all
on top so when they are in the water they can still breathe
when they do go under., their eyes, ears, nose and mouth ALL CLOSE
and they can stay under for 5 mins!!
they weigh up to 7 thousand pounds
they eat plants but are aggressive animals( will defend
their territory)
We were amazed that hippos can hold their breath
for 5 mins SO we timed how long we can hold our breath!
Most were around 18-30 seconds. BUT Mrs Koenen could
hold her breath for over 1 min!!
Even though it was COLD we played outside
to get some fresh air!!!
Sun shining felt great!!
Then we ran in the commons
