Chapel
We had chapel in The Commons. Lyla carried our class cross and took our offering up. Mrs. Helmkamp, Zion's Early Childhood Director, led chapel. She talked about the first sin telling us how God had created an amazing world. She showed us a picture of a beautiful garden. Then she reminded us of Adam and Eve and how they sinned and Mrs. Helmkamp ripped the beautiful picture in half and said now the picture was broken like our broken world. But Mrs. Helmkamp told us the world is put back together through Jesus, and she put the picture back together and the brown tape created a cross.
Outside Fun
We had some fun in the sun today.
J.J. and Harrison go climbing.
Nora does some cooking
Abikritti makes soup.
I love seeing new friendships blossom!
Apples! Apples! Apples!
We continued talking about apples, reading a non-fiction book that gave us more information about apples. We had no idea there were 6,900 different varieties of apples!
I also introduced this predictive text to the class. It's a mini book called Apples! Apples! Apples! The class enjoyed reading the book many times. Several students chose to make their own apple mini book to take home.
Harrison sits in the teacher chair and reads his Apples! Apples! Apples! book to the class.
We also did some apple painting where we painted with apples!
And more friends took the apple taste test where they tasted red apples (Red Delicious), green apples, (Granny Smith, and yellow apples (Golden Delicious). Then the children voted on which apple they liked the best.
Luke shows Levi which apple he voted for.
Noah's Ark
We acted out the story of Noah's Ark with a toy ark and toy animals. Several children chose to find more animals to put in the ark during centers. They also built the giant flood!
Nora puts two lions in the ark during our retelling.
Abikritti puts two zebras in the ark.
