Thursday's Blog

 We had a very busy day that started with a surprise tornado drill! The children were amazing, great listeners, and followed directions as we practiced what it would be like to gather safely into the bathroom. We discussed where they go at home when there are tornado warnings (basement, bathrooms, hallways). Not outside!

Fun in the Sun!

We found a rolly-polly and got out the magnify glasses to take a closer look.

Our pumpkins are really growing! Several students are checking on them daily.

On the way inside, Landon spotted a Daddy Long Legs. We stopped an observed it for awhile. I explained that it is a harmless type of spider that is helpful to humans because it eats bugs.

Our Tree

We adopted a tree today that is close to our playground. We gathered under the tree and talked about its parts: trunk, branches, leaves, bark. We talked about what lines we saw in the tree (straight lines on the trunk, a circle on the trunk and rough feeling..) and what colors we saw brown trunk and branches and green leaves. Then we drew what our tree looks like in September during the season of Summer.

Apples! Apples! Apples!

More apple fun today as a few more friends got to take the apple taste test and vote for their favorite kind of apple. Ask your child to share which kind was his or her favorite.

Ten Apples Up on Top!

I couldn't find a copy of the book, "Ten Apples Up on Top so we enjoyed watching a reading of it on line during snack. Some children chose to paint apples on their heads during centers.

Noah's Ark

We read the book "Hurry Up, Noah" which helped us review the Bible story. Ask your child what God sent as a promise to help us remember that He will never flood the entire Earth again. (a rainbow)

Farmer's Market Dramatic Play

Our dramatic play area has been transformed into a Farmer's Market and everyone had fun exploring it! More things will be added over the weeks ahead.
