Morning Work
A play invitation
a play invitation or play
provocation is a way of setting up
play to "invite" the children to explore something
new with new items to spark
interest and lead
play in new directions
a family donated these cool leaves and fall shapes
and made us play doh
the children enjoyed making leaf prints
Charlie was our attendance helper
We had "zero" friends not at school
and Charlie counted 8 friends at school
Great counting
Right after attendance I talked to the children
about something special we were going to do today
Sometimes at chapel the chapel leader
will ask the children to be NINJA QUIET
so i told the children we had to be ninja quiet
for this activity
I then told the children we get to use a
secret doorway to get to a special
hiding spot. I then said it is only OK to hide
at school if the teacher say it is
Then we walked ninja quiet
through the secret doorway
up the stairs into our attic
and hid
the children did an EXCELLENT job!!
In the children's minds we were playing a game
and one friend declared this FUN when
we were done!
I am happy no one felt scared or understood
why we were doing this
After our INTRUDER DRILL was over
we came back to the
blue carpet and sang and danced!
The children LOVE to dance
OUTSIDE
The children discovered "corn kernels"
on our playground. Charlie and Aiden began
"selling" popcorn
They told me it was $2 per bucket and I could get extra
if I paid extra money!! So funny!
Jenna, Mila and Jemma enjoyed
playing on the playground together
Nathaniel joined in on the
popcorn selling
STORY TIME
Hazel put the book away for us after we read
Jemma was VERY excited to
be the weather helper
She chose SUNNY
Aiden was our prayer leader
SO SWEET!
Nora was our snack manager
SNACK
After snack, friends can go to the
book/library area and read
until everyone finishes
Nathaniel was very
excited to be the teacher assistant
Lots of friends raising their hands
to tell Nathaniel the letter
he is pointing to
Sesame Street Letter I podcast(only about a 5 mins video).. to help us think
of more I words
A few friends still needed to do their
summer tree observation
And also do their self portraits
CENTER TIME
Hazel had already done her self
portrait but wanted to draw her face
I think she mostly drew her eyes!
I think she enjoyed looking in
the mirror
A group of friends worked together
to construct this
"creation"
Then they experimented with
dropping the balls down from
the "tower" they built
into the "pool" below
They didn't use those words
but I am trying to describe what I was observing
It was very FUN to watch
and they were learning so much
and about
cause and effect
CLEAN UP TIME
Charlie asked to be the SUPERINTENDENT
on Fridays with less kiddos...not all the job get chosen
so friends get to volunteer
to do extras!
we cleaned up a little early for our
guest reader
Prayer before our guest reader comes
our birthday boy
Nathaniel
Thank you to Nathaniel's
mom for reading to us!!
It was a fun treat!
