A Moth....
So a few weeks ago, Mrs Koenen
and her grandson brought in 2
caterpillars. After a day we notice one caterpillar was
missing( I think it got out of the
opening. We continued to watch the other one
But after about a week, it seemed like
it wasn't moving and I figured it didn't have enough food
in the cage. Fast forward another week or so, Mrs Koenen
decided to take her cage back home and when she
went to dump out the leaves-----
she noticed A MOTH!!!
So it turns out after looking more closely, we could
see a cocoon ( moths make cocoons /butterflies build
chrysalis) and the moth emerged
yesterday!!!
The children were excited to check it out today.

SECOND STEPS
This is Gloria. Gloria is just standing
over by her cubby. I showed the children
this picture and we looked closely at her
face and talked about how we think she is
feeling. then we looked closely at what she
is doing and tried to decided what
is going on.....
(she couldn't get her jacket zippered)
Then we talked about ways
Gloria can solve her problem.
Gloria could ask a friend
gloria could ask her teacher
We also talked about how when you ask
for help, you need to use a polite
but strong voice
OUTSIDE
Mrs Koenen shared the moth
with her grandson's class
and then brought it
outside for us to release it!
Many children wanted to watch
took a little bit to get
it to work it's way out....
on the ground
Mrs Koenen used a stick to help it
move off the sidewalk so it
didn't get stepped on
CHAPEL
Mrs Helmkamp led
chapel today.
She talked about the different
colors you may see when
you go to church
(the color red is coming up next)
Then she "discovered" this
box/present for her....
it said, "To Mrs Helmkamp
Love, God"
Inside she found a cross
and a bible
She reminded us that God sent
all of us the best gift of all.
His son, Jesus, to die on the
cross to save us all from sin.
The bible reminds us
of all of God's words.
She also taught us a bible
verse from
Ephesians 2 8-9 and taught us
the sign language/
hand actions.
Jacob was our offering helper
We also celebrated
Baptism Birthdays...
Oct is Maisie's

A few A words-----
if you want to think of any A words
tonight with your child
he/she can share them tomorrow at school
Today we started SMALL GROUPS
I divided the children into 3 groups
1 small group got to play with
the firehouse/truck/doll house
the other group went
with Mrs Koenen
and played TRICKY MOUSE
And the 3rd group
worked with me. We concentrated
on talking about feelings and
learning about how to name our feeling
and what makes us feel a certain way...
After about 6-7 mins we switched groups
so each group got to do each activity.
I have this wonderful
book, A Spot of Emotion, that
also comes with these emotion
stuffed animals
Each child got to hold
an emotion card, name the feeling
and share what makes them feel
HAPPY/SAD
(these are the 2 emotions we
talked specifically about today)
After each group spent time in each
area, we did center time.
It was already 10:55
(usually we clean up from centers at 11),
but I decided to let everyone
have 20 mins of centers
A few friends were really
enjoying tricky mouse
Emmy wanted to makes Charlotte's sister,
Abigail, a birthday card today

we said our prayer requests and thank you Jesus prayer together
and I didn't write anything down today!
