Morning Work

Play doh fun!!!

PART 2 of our science experiment

Yesterday we asked the question
what will happen when we put water outside
( we also put treasures inside the water)
we made predictions and checked on it every 30 mins
after about 2 hours we learned
the water will freeze and make ice

Today we brought the ice inside
everyone got a chance to feel it

Then I asked the children

HOW WILL WE GET OUR TREASURES OUT OF THE ICE?

Here are their responses:

Laura: I think we should cook it with fire

Charlie : Turn it upside down or use a rock to break it

Brody: Break it or stomp on it

Carly: Buy a hammer and break it

Luke: a rock

Aiden: carve it with hot breath, use hot spray or use a rocket

Leo: with a hammer that is super strong

We talked about how people use SALT ( the kind used for melting ice on the streets

is different than the salt we use in our homes) I made sure the kiddos knew not to pick up salt from outside, but that regular table salt was ok to touch

We also filled a water bottle with warm water..

As soon as the table salt touched the ice... you could HEAR it cracking

very cool!!

everyone wanted to help pour salt on our ice

Then with the help of a little warm water.... and lots of salt

Slowly we got ALL our treasures out!!!!  The children LOVED this SO much!!!

Since it was still too cold for outside time.. we played a game
Roll the die and do the action
For example:
waddle like a penguin
freeze like an icicle
Fly like a snowy owl

Then we did a little bowling
And fort building

Then Story Time

Carly was weather helper

Luke was prayer leader

Charlie was snack manager
Leo was our teacher assistant

A few children mentioned that NASA landed a ROVER on MARS

so we looked at pictures of where Mars is and then watched a short

video of the MARS ROVER!!!

CENTER TIME

Nice job Leo!!

Aiden wanted a picture of his trains
Carly also was our yoga instructor
Downward dog

Then I asked Leo to choose an exercise for us
SIT UPS!!
