Morning Work

Below is just a shot of something that might
make the perfect size "cage"
our insects

Will checking out the Build a Bug
Luke enjoying the Science Center

and the entomologist equipment

Checking out our class bug book(still in the making) but

I do have some pictures in there
Charlie and Luke
Will creating another bug

Charlie having fun with the build

a bug parts

Will spending some time this

morning at the writing center

Luke and Will started playing with this die

As each boy rolled the die, I asked them how many dots they saw.

I then asked if the other boy could roll a bigger number
They counted and rolled for a long time
Such a simple (AND UNPLANNED) game
which turned into a great teachable
moment!
Reinforced counting one to one,
understanding of number order, understanding
of bigger/smaller, turn taking...
so much from just one die!!!!

Jesus Time

We "ACTED" out the story of Abraham
All the boys were excited to "act" out a part

Aiden (Abraham) & Mrs Larimore (Sarah)
Luke (GOD) God tells Abraham to count the
number of starts in the sky

And that will be how members of your family you will have

Then Abraham and Sarah had 3 visitors (however for our version and

the great desire for each boy who still wanted a part we did 4)
When the visitors arrived Abraham and Sarah invited them in and feed them
The visitors then told Abraham and Sarah that they were going to have a son

Sarah and Abraham laughed saying they were too old
But about 1 year later Sarah gave birth to a son who they named Isaac

God always keeps his promises

YOGA : SKI POSE

OUTSIDE

Mrs Stanglein's class really wanted to hide bugs for us again

which of course these guys LOVED

Right as we were lining up

Charlie asked if he could "ice skate"

He asked Mrs Larimore to sit down and watch

several friends joined him

Story Time: A Diary of a Spider

Charlie was weather helper( I think he was cold or wishful thinking...he chose the weather picture that shows SNOW)
Since it is a new month we looked at ourBirthday Swing to see

who has OCTOBER birthdays: Carly and Nora ( a day and a year apart)

We talked about our kindness chart. I gave an example of how we could be kind. I saw a jacket on the floor and said, "It would be kind if we picked up a friends jacket if we notice it on the floor." Charlie immediately jumped up and said, "Let me help!" Great job!

He added his name to our kindness chart

 Aiden choose Prayer Leader

Will chose Snack Manager

A little chilly to sit on the cold ground so we ate inside
While we ate we watch Sesame Street Letter E

Then a cute song that teaches insect body parts

A few friends remember several Letter E words

Then a conversation started when we were practicing letter sounds

I brought in my kiddos fridge Letter Factory game

You put a letter in and push the button

it sings a song and teaches how to make the correct sounds

Next we got out play doh
Let's make some E's

Then we played with the play doh and some play doh tools
which was a big hit

CENTER TIME
Luke remember that yesterday I took a picture
of how he and Brody made the train tracks and he asked if
he could look at it to make it again

Will playing in dramatic play
Aiden made a giant wall

After a few minutes of me not touching my computer
it goes to sleep and then loses its connection to
the Smart Board.....
When this happened Brody said,
" It says, NO SIGNAL!"

 WOW!!! Great reading!!!
So my computer would not go to sleep, I put a slideshow on of

yesterdays photos.... the children really enjoyed it!!

CENTER TIME:

Aiden very proud of his creation

Exercise: Push ups

We exercised, then prayed then it was time to add the sand to our ant farm

I passed around the bag of sand, which felt like a cross between sand and foam

they had so much fun watching..... our ants should be here put Monday!

It really is just sand they are all looking at BUT the excitement of

the idea of ANTS is pretty great!!!
We talked about all the things we need to do to take care of our ants

and I thought if we made a new job, that person who could mark a chart and let us know what they ants need. It says to only feed and give water a certain amount...not everyday!

I asked the children what we should call this job...... Brody said,

" How about Entomologist!"  That is the perfect name!!!
