The class collected sticks and painted them for
an art (class)project
Super hard to see in the picture
But we made a birthday calendar
Each sticks represents a month
I took pictures of the children
sitting, then cut out their bodies
SO it looks like they are sitting on the stick
like a swing

It really did turn out cute......
MOST of the class was born in JULY

Will was the first one to school today... he is

picking out his job for the day

Then he went to check out our class grass hopper

When Aiden got to school, they played with

the magnet tiles together
Aiden showing me he can make a spinner

Will made a house

Luke and Brody discussing how to spell LUKE's name...

Luke wanted to check out Toka,
our grasshopper

The boys playing a sorting game

Then they moved on to bristle blocks

Morning Meeting
The boys shared a few things
some about what they were doing this weekend
Aiden shared about his new puppy

Jesus Time
Last day for the Adam and Eve story

Begin with invocation

Then I read the story from the bible
Next we acted out the story
I asked the boys if they knew what an actor was
some said NO
So I said an actor is someone who pretends to be someone else... sometimes for a
movie. Today we our going to ACT out the
bible story.....
I asked for volunteers

Brody volunteered to be God

God said to Adam and Eve
I made this Garden for you
you may eat from ANY of the trees
BESIDES got the ONE forbidden
Tree in the center
Mrs Larimore and Will are Eve and Adam
Adam and Eve are walking through the

garden enjoying how beautiful it is

Eve wonders off and meets the sneaky snake (played by Aiden...... the class

decided Aiden should be the snake because of his green hoodie)
The sneaky snake says, "Did God really tell you NOT to eat from this tree?"
So Eve decided to try the apple, thinks it is so delicious and then

gives some to Adam. As soon as Adam eats a bit they
know they have DISOBEYED God

They feel bad for disobeying and hide
God calls for them and asks why they are hiding
When they tell God what they have done

God punishes the snake by saying you will spend the rest of your life

crawling on your belly
And he tells Adam and Eve they may not live in the garden anymore
And he puts angels (Luke and Charlie)to guard the entrance of the garden
They boys enjoyed acting out the story VERY much!

OUTSIDE TIME

Walking back from the playground, one friend discovered that another

class had drawn body shapes on the sidewalk....... so each boy wanted a chance

to lay down and see if they were bigger than the shape....

A huge PLUS to only have 5 kiddos today.... we could do it without it getting out of control

STORY TIME
FICTION or NON FICTION

Some books are tricky to know for sure
this book was about butterflies and a boy
the boy catches the butterflies
lots of beautiful pictures of butterflies
and at the end the boy releases
all the butterflies at once

Now all the characters in this story are true
but this may not have actually happened
But really I want the children to start to learn the
difference between real and pretend
which can be difficult but
even more importantly
I always tell them that all the
stories in the bible are true!!!!
Non fiction

Charlie was our weather helper today... he choose rainbow.... another child

chose rainbow too earlier in the week..... I usually just say if you want to choose rainbow

it must be just a HAPPY kind of day

Brody was librarian

Luke was prayer leader

I love how everyone has their head bowed, hands folded and eyes closed

praying along with Luke and I

Will was snack manager

CLOSE UP OF TOKA
We discussed after reading the story of the boy releasing
the butterflies we needed to release TOKA, the grasshopper.
NONE of these boys wanted to release him
But I told them I was worried about him staying alive all weekend without
anyone here to care for him.
One friend, Brody(I think) suggested
I could just bring him to my house and care for
him over the weekend
REALLY great thinking

However, I think grasshoppers
need to live in the wild...not sure how
many more days he has left if we
kept him in the cage(which I didn't say
that part to the children)

He came outside while we ate snack

Mrs Larimore and I took our pictures
for the birthday swings too
Then a few others wanted a picture where we were

Playing in the dirt

Getting ready to release Toka

They were so interested in watching him
Turned his cage on its side
And we waited...... and waited some more.... I did video it and will include

a link in my Friday note.......I haven't watch it back yet but I hope you can hear

some of the comments as the grasshopper hops around

He is camouflaged in the grass....

Then he climbed onto this plastic cup

Handwriting without tears
AIR WRITING THE LETTER I

Now we get to make our letters in the shaving cream

In the beginning a few boys were unsure
But as they played in it....... they began to really enjoy how the shaving cream felt

Even so much so they wanted to rub it all the way up their arms

Center Time

Aiden's creation

Will looking like a movie star

Aiden told me he made a boat and showed me the propeller in

the back of the boat

FUN WITH STENCILS

RAMPS AND CARS OH MY!!! SO FUN!

Very busy making presents for his family

After we cleaned up we spent a few mins thinking of more brainstorming questions

of things we may wonder about insects/bugs

We also watched a VERY short video of another
type of insect that may do better has a
class pet.... ANTS..... I have never had an ant farm
before but I know they are hard workers and it is
fun to watch them work....
The boys enjoyed watching the ants work and
it got them thinking of more questions
Tried to take close up picts of todays questions

Ants lift dog treats

Can an ant lift a human or dog

why do rolly pollys have shells

SO MANY GREAT QUESTIONS>>>>>

Lastly, a great way to repurpose an old game....

I wrote the numbers 1-6 on each bowl
Then asked the boys to close their eyes while I hid a bean bag under

one of the bowls. I then asked them to guess which bowl it was under.

I then gave clues such as...... IT IS UNDER A BOWL BIGGER THAN THE NUMBER 3

(OR WHATEVER NUMBER THEY GUESSED)

OR IT IS UNDER THE BOWL SMALLER THAN THE NUMBER 5

this game is great for number recognition

and for understanding bigger or smaller

As well as game playing is good for learning
to take turns and play cooperatively together
and also even if you know
the answer we need to be patient
while others figure it out
Also to raise you hand to talk..
and so much more...

They really enjoyed it...... I wish I had more bowls like this... I might have to be on the ) look out for this old game(a bean bag toss made by Discovery Toys because they

could definitely needed more of a challenge once they understood how the game works
