I know that sometimes it is hard not walking your children in BUT
look at how independent everyone is getting.
Hanging up their own back pack, getting everything out and
putting it into their own cubby, washing their hands,
picking a job and then signing in....
WOW!! thats a lot of responsibility
I am SO proud of our class!!!!!
After the children have done their morning routine they get to pick an activity at
one of the tables, until everyone gets to school. Always lots of fun activities to choose from.
Magnet tiles is a favorite
Writing center has many fun activities to do as well
ABC stickers is a favorite!
Roll and cover (has pictures of the days of creation on it)
Is a great way to reinforce letter recognition.
Plus you get to use pretty gems to cover the numbers
that you roll.
Wyatt enjoys this game!
A few friends picking out their jobs
Sometimes it is a hard choice
Learning to make choices is a great life skill, plus
sometimes it also take problem solving when the job you want
is already taken!
Claire was proud to show me her creation
( I believe she told me it was a tower)
Wyatt was excited to show me his creation as well.
He told me it was a birthday cake
Second Steps:
This is our social emotional curriculum . Today we learned about being patient and listening to others, even if their is a surprise you really want to see.
Rosetta, our girl puppet, sometimes gets very excited and has a hard time sitting quietly while on the carpet. She was very excited for the surprise. The children did a great job of modeling for Rosetta how we should listen (which shows respect for the person talking) and sit on the carpet. Then we learned we can use our hands to make an ATTENT-A-SCOPE
An ATTENT-A-SCOPE helps us focus on the person
talking and not others around us, especially if there is a surprise.
I had a bowl filled with something special
ALL the children were excited but did a great job using their
ATTENT-A-SCOPES until is was their
turn to see the surprise
GREAT ATTENT-A-SCOPES
Next we took a few minutes to relax and switch to our next activity
to help we do YOGA!
Brody, our yoga instructor, chose
TREE POSE for us!
Tree pose takes a lot of concentration
But everyone worked really had at it
JESUS TIME:
We are on DAY 6 of creation
God created animals and people
I have story cards and creation rocks to help retell the story
The children helped put the creation rocks on the correct creation
story card
Then got to help put the creation rocks away..
OUTSIDE TIME
Wyatt chose door holder for his job today
Aiden was our gate keeper
Claire did such a great job climbing up the rock wall
These boys are planning a game together....
The game started as tag
BUT then others joined in and it became Hide-n-Seek....
Everyone did such a great job
Game playing is a great way to learn turn taking
and cooperation!
A few friends were walking on the short wall
and then jumping off!
This was a great hiding place.... I almost caught the shot when Wyatt was
fully hidden, but right before i clicked the shot he was found!
After outside time
we come in to wash hands, go potty, drink water and read
books with friends until everyone is
finished
Tristan's job today was sit by the teacher
Ella's job today was weather helper
I let the children completely choose
on their own. Sometimes the children disagree with each other
but I let them know it is the weather helpers choice.
Today Ella chose stormy....... most kids wanted cloudy.
I let her choose and she felt like it was going to rain later.
Weather helper is one of the MOST favorite jobs!
Next we did invocation. I usually do this before Jesus Time, but sometimes I forget
Claire was our invocation leader today
Luke was our prayer leader and let us in a prayer before snack
Caroline was our snack manager today. This is also a very popular job choice
I tried to encourage the children to choose a different job each day
Since the sky did look like rain and the grass was a little wet we ate inside
always FUN to have an indoor picnic!
HandWriting Without Tears
We used a Big line and a Little line
to make the letter T
Great Job!!!
Last week was L..... I talk to the children about how we use lines to make different letters
so I wanted to see who remembered how to make the L
The kiddos then gave me a few words they knew began with T
CENTER TIME
Wyatt is using the workbench
Aiden chose dramatic play firstTristan also went to dramatic play first
Will is doing a small group activity with me. Using glue to outline his name.
Squeezing the glue bottle strengthens hand muscles
Outline his name reinforces letter formation and recognition
and then picking up small sequins and gems is great work for fine motor development
Tristan and Aiden working n their names
Legos and the magnetic cars was a popular area. We set a timer several times
so that friends could take turns in this area
Look at how Brody made his tower
Luke was excited to show me how high his creation is too..
He made a robot!
Some friends have longer names and it takes more time.
Caroline worked on another letter today. This is hard work but so great for little hands!
Will and Tristan waited patiently for their turn with legos!
Aiden having fun at the workbench
Wyatt played a long time in dramatic play.
He served me pizza and said it cost 3 dollars and then I asked for dessert.
He told me I could have whatever I wanted and it would cost me zero dollars.
I told him I wanted to go to his restaurant everyday!!
Carly writing a note to her mom
LOTS OF CREATIONS!!! Thank you,Aiden! The children were
interested in the recycling you brought in
Carly made a person
Tristan spelled his name with the magnetic letters
Looking at class book from last year
Nora made a flower bug
Painting at the art easel...... my main goal is to have the children stand when at this center
to strengthen their muscles(mainly their core). Most however, really want to sit. This is totally OK !!!! I will just keep encouraging standing to paint.
Exercise Time
Nora chose running in place
After exercising, we prayed... I didn't get any pictures today
BUT I love this time of day and hearing everyones
sweet little prayers!
