Wednesday’s Blog

What a Windy Day!

We nearly blew away during outdoor play so our time outside was brief. The kiddos, however, didn’t seem to mind the chill in the air!

The Gingerbread Man

We read the Gingerbread Baby written by my favorite author, Jan Brett. Her books are lengthy, but the class was engaged, enjoyed the book, and made predictions while reading! I told them I’ve taught children in kindergarten and first grade who couldn’t do that and it’s true! You should be incredibly proud of your children.

Mrs. Talley’s Mom & Dad Visit

My mom and dad, both retired teachers, came for a visit today. My dad did a special project with the students. It is top secret but here are some photos of the class listening to my dad, Mr. Freeman, explain the project during snack.

Making Ornaments

Some friends decorated gingerbread ornaments, while others decorated ball ornaments. We added them to our class Christmas tree.

The Christmas Train

I brought in my daughter’s old toy train set and many friends had fun playing with it during centers. And everyone shared!

Candy Building

The candy building set I bought for the class continues to be a “sweet” place to explore! What a creative group of kiddos!

Making Gingerbread Houses

Another center choice was making gingerbread cookies and building gingerbread houses like the one Matti build for the Gingerbread Baby in the book we read.

Making Christmas Cards

Several friends made Christmas cards in the writing center. Making cards for each other is fun! We are learning how to write our own names as well as our friends names!

Selah made a card for Nora.

The Christmas House

More fun in the Christmas house! Decorating and cookie baking!

Jesus Time

We sang our song "Light One Candle," and read a fantastic about the best Christmas gift.. Jesus! The book also told us we can't give actual gifts to Jesus but we give Him gifts when we pray and do kind things for others. It is an amazing Christmas book!

After we counted the days until Jesus's birthday (and Mrs. Ta;;ey's birthday, my birthday is on Christmas Day!) helper Levi got to change the number on our countdown plaque.

Only 16 days until we celebrate Christmas and Jesus's birthday! And Mrs. Talley the kiddos like to add! They are so sweet!

Reading our Advent devotional.

Selah adds the sticker on our Advent devotional.

Having Fun With Mrs. Talley's Parents
The class loved engaging with my parents. Some children read with my mom while others brought my dad hot chocolate from our Christmas house. He joked with them asking if they had put soap in it and they thought that was hilarious!

Merry Christma!!!
