Friday's Blog

Jesus Time

We added a new sticker to our Advent devotional and talked about the night sky being quiet but then it go bright and their was great singing from the angels when Jesus was born.

Then we acted out the Christmas story with our toy nativity set.

Outdoor Fun

Although it was chilly, we spent a few minutes outside.

Centers

The Christmas House
Lots of fun was had in the Christmas House... taking care of babies, decorating the house for Christmas and working together.

Writing Center
The children are really taking off at the writing center, writing their names and making Christmas cards for their family and friends. Some friends, like Harrison A., has learned to write the names of everyone in our class!

Gingerbread Fun!
The playdough smelled good enough to eat! We enjoyed rolling and cutting out gingerbread shapes and then decorating our creations with beads and buttons. We also made gingerbread ornaments that we decorated with a variety of fun things from the art center.

The Nativity
J.J. acts out the Christmas story.

Candy Construction and The Christmas Train
Lots of creative things were made out of the pieces in the Candy Construction set.

Making Wrapping Paper
A few more friends made wrapping paper during centers. We used stamps and stamp pads.

Counting Down to Jesus's Birthday
Olivia got to change the number on our countdown to Jesus's birthday plaque. The children are so cute, they also say and Mrs. Talley's birthday too!

Snack Prayer
Wow, Annabella wanted to say our snack prayer all by herself today, without me leading it. Way to go!!!!

Reading

J.J.'s grandma let us borrow several gingerbread books this week and this is one of them! We read this unique but amazing book, "The Gingerbread Girl" during our real aloud time. Its what happened after the Gingerbread Boy gets eaten... his sister jumps out of the oven, goes on the same adventure but encounters modern people who want to eat her like an artist and a dog walker! But when she come across the fox, she outsmarts him, tying up his muzzle with a piece of her licorice rope hair. She tames him, riding on his back and the lonely little old man and little old woman invite everyone back to their house for gingerbread cookies! I may need to add this one to my collection.

The Letter Y
We practiced making the Letter Y with our friends.

Gingerbread Hunt
After reading the traditional version of The Gingerbread Man and smelling the gingerbread man (a real cookie) that appeared in our classroom yesterday, we realized at the end of the day that he had run away! He left a clue and it led us on a gingerbread hint around our classroom. Ask your child to tell you where we found clues. We finally found him in the kitchen!

Smelling the gingerbread man. He smells so good!

We could eat you, gingerbread man!

The gingerbread left us this clue and it led us on a search!

Clue #1

J.J. found a clue!

Harrison found a clue!

Olivia found clue #5!

Ellis found clue #6!

We were led to the kitchen.

We searched high and low!
