Monday's Blog

 Frozen Fun

It was a bit chilly but we bundled up and spent a little bit of time outside. The children had fun crushing a big chunk of ice they discovered. How fun to see it shatter into so many pieces. And what large muscles to lift the large piece. There was also running and sliding and playing catch.

Nora didn't get any customers, it was too cold for lemonade!

The Gingerbread Man

We began talking about the Gingerbread Man. I read a traditional tale of the story where the fox ate the gingerbread boy at the end. We will read a different version tomorrow.

Centers

Making Gingerbread Cookies

The children really enjoyed rolling out gingerbread flavored play doh and cutting out gingerbread shapes with cookie cutters. We used buttons and beads to decorate our creations. What creative cookies! They look good enough to eat!

Decorating Gingerbread Ornaments

A few friends made gingerbread ornaments for our classroom Christmas tree and decorated them with items from our art shelf.

The Writing Center

I added some Christmas cards to the writing center. Several friends made cards for family members.

Finger Painting

Finger painting is so much fun!!!

Levi decorates his finger painting and makes it into a tree with colorful ornaments!

Candy Construction

I bought the class a Candy Construction Building Set and they enjoyed building lots of amazing things during center time.

Christmas House

There was cookie baking, babysitting and lots of cooperating going on in dramatic play today!

The Letter Y

Our mystery letter was Y! We learned it takes 3 little lines, two diagonal and one straight line to make a capital Y. We learned that yarn, yogurt, and yo-yo begins with Y and we watched the Y alphabet/sound video. Y for Yakety Yaks!

Advent

The second week of Advent is Peace. We lit tow candles today and read our advent devotionals. We count the number of days until Jesus's birthday everyday and the person who sits next to the teacher changes the numbers on our countdown plaque.

Reading Fun

Olivia was the Teacher Helper and I introduced something new... Muzzy Monkey who helps us review our numbers or helps us read environmental print!
