Morning Work
This week we have legos
out----- all LINE legos
Big Lines and Little lines
Kennedy and Calvin
chose legos first
Otto also chose legos
Emmy and Winston chose to
play with the colorful
sticks and cubes....
the cubes have little holes in them that
the sticks can fit through
to make creations
Kennedy is now enjoying ALL the loose
parts
a variety of different items that
can be made into letters
or sorted or just
have fun exploring them
Foster and Lucas wanted
to do legos too
Charlotte, Winston and
Emmy came and played
with the loose parts
Oliver wanted to color
Lincoln chose the
puzzle first
Morning Meeting
Kennedy is our
attendance helper
Zero friends NOT at school
15 friends AT school
Cecilia was our
invocation leader
We had a friend come to
Jesus Time
Zippy( Zippy is a puppet that
sometimes helps us with
Jesus time)
At the beginning of Jesus time
Zippy was hiding from the class.
I had the children call for Zippy several times
and then I finally convinced Zippy he could come out.
I asked Zippy if he was hiding because he
did something he wasn't suppose to do.
Yes, Zippy told the children that he pinched
his brother. The children all agreed that wasn't nice.
Zippy said it was ALL his brothers fault
because he was going to draw on Zippy's picture and it
made him mad.
The children then told Zippy others ways to handle being mad
then hurting someone.
THE CHILDREN WERE ALL VERY ENGAGED!!!
The children told Zippy he
could take DEEP BREATHES
to calm down and tell your brother not to draw on your picture
The children then suggested Zippy say he is sorry and ask
how he can make him feel better.
I told the children this reminded
me of today's BIBLE STORY
The story of Adam and Eve and the
SNEAKY SNAKE
Adam and Eve hid from God after they did
something God had asked them not to and then they blamed the
snake. We learned that when we do
something we aren't suppose to it
is called a sin. Everyone sins!
God wants us to ask for forgiveness when
we sin and he wants us to forgive
others like he FORGIVES US!!!
Arwen was our
yoga instructor
Surfer Pose
Then we talked more about our
school family house and showed the
pictures of our
own houses!
Then we voted for our school family
name. The children created wooden pieces/people
and I put their pictures on them.
I asked the children who
did NOT vote on Friday
which name they liked the BEST.
Then each child put his/hers
person in the container with the name
he/she liked best
we then counted each one ...
we have 1 more friend that needs to vote
and then we will have the
results......
so far
Zion Lions has 7
the result have 4 or 5
OUTSIDE
Lots of cooking happened
in the mud kitchen today
After outside time we head inside.....
Back inside...
Children wash their hands and
then sit on the brown carpet
to read while everyone else
washes their hands.
Foster had decided to rest in our
CALMING CORNER....
Then I noticed Arwen and Winston joined him(normally
CALMING CORNER is a one person area, but I overheard
their conversation SO I thought I would
just let it go.......
Foster was explaining to them that
his hair cut was called
a mohawk mullet
he repeated it several times......
Then Foster talked about the hair gel
he uses.... From the looks of it, Arwen is telling him something
( I wish I could remember what she was saying....)
It was pretty cute and Arwen and
Winston were learning
all about Foster's hair style!
STORY TIME
Weather Helper
Lincoln chose rainbow
Ellie was prayer leader
Lucas was snack
manager
SNACK
Calvin was
teacher assistant
we brainstormed
F words
then sang a song
to help us remember where
we start our letters
AT THE TOP
(WHEN WRITING)
The children were very
excited to
play with the big legos
Art
Science Experiment
Yesterday and today
we experimented with color
blending....
I let each child choose 2
primary colors and then
predicted what would happen
I then gave each child
a popsicle stick
and then they got to mix and mix
to see what happens.......
Then the children
got to paint with the
new color they
created!
SO FUN!!!
Legos was a popular
area!!!
To be honest I knew friends
would enjoy them .....
what I wasn't expecting was the level
of the EXCITEMENT that then raised the
noise level quite a bit.
I mean FUN was being had for sure--------
we just had
to give a few reminders
of inside voices
ππππππ
Dramatic Play is also
a very popular area every day!
Emmy wanted to make
a bracelet today
Charlotte was our
superintendent today
Mack was our
exercise leader
Toe Touches
Prayer Requests
We had time for
TRICKY MOUSE
A super fun rhyming game
Games are so important for so many reasons
-turn taking
-patience
-impulse control
-handling disappointment: you may not always win
The way this game works-----
I place these houses out in front of me
Each house has a letter on it
I then ask each child to hid their
eyes and faces
NO PEEKING
(huge impulse control here----- many
of course want to peek)
I say
Tricky Mouse, Tricky Mouse
Where is your house?
The children who want to guess
raise their hands
When I call on them they answer
with a rhyme...
Tricky Mouse, Tricky Mouse
Are you in the (guess a letter) house?
This also helps reinforce letter
recognition
The children LOVE
LOVE this game!!!
