Happy 2nd Day
AND
1st Day (for some)
So fun to watch how quickly the
children pick up on the routine.....
(most friend remembered from
yesterday)
Levi came in and hung
his back pack up and
is putting his
lunch box in his cubby
Then he "signed in"
Signing in helps
with name recognition
But we also use these boards a little later
in our day
for attendance.....
Calvin and Harrison
signing in
Eleanor signing in
Then the children wash hands and
go to a table for morning work
PLAY DOH
A few friends from last year
remembered they like to make
me "pizza" and love for me to take a bite
and when I do --- they say it is SPICY or
that it has bugs in it
and then laugh and laugh
ππ
It did not take long for
the new friends to join in
I got LOTS of SPICY pizza today!!
Levi and Maisie
enjoying our writing center
Calvin and Eleanor
exploring a few other
morning work activities

Otto coloring a page
that has this years theme verse
Lyla enjoying play doh
Friends were very busy with
morning work
Harrison excited to show me
what he made this morning
Rowen
Abidaan
Xander
After all friends have arrived we
clean up and go to the blue carpet
There are dots on the floor
so each friend knows
where to sit....
(Another way to reinforce name recognition)
we will change locations each day SO friends
sit by different people each day.
This helps build relationships with others
ways to sit on the carpet.....
NOT everyone is comfortable just sitting
one way... like criss cross
SO I offer a variety of ways for the children
to sit on the carpet that is comfortable for their
bodies--- they get to choose......
this empowers the children to feel
in control of a new situation
and bring comfort which allows them
to prepare their bodies to listen
Emmy is showing us lounge
Lyla is showing criss cross
Ellie is showing us mountain
Eleanor wanted to show us lounge
but with her ankles crossed
Rowen showing us
criss cross
Kennedy showing us
mermaid
Otto, Levi and JJ
showing us.....
Triangle? Tee Pee?
Any other thought for a name for
this position??
we are not sure yet what to call this position
but a few friends found this way comfortable
Attendance.....
we look at the 2 boards and see
how many names are left on the smaller
board
1 name which means one friend
is not at school today
Aavya is traveling right now
Then we look at the bigger board and
count how many names are on it to know how
many friends did come to school today
Talking about who is and who is not at school today
helps build a sense of community
or family... which we are working on creating
we had 16 friends at school today
singing a song to learn friends names....
Icka Bicka Soda Cracker
Icka Bicka Boo
who are you??
then each child has a chance to
say their name
Rowen led invocation

We are reading about
Jesus LOVES the little children
Lining up to go outside
Ella was line leader

bow our heads....
Maisie was snack manager

After friends finish eating
they can go to sit on gray

I measured friends who had their
1st day today....
I will measure again at the end of the year!!!
You will be amazed at how much
your child will grow!
I also took 1st day of school photos
(check out seesaw to see your child's
later this evening)
Art Easel
To use the art easel the children
learn how to fill a small water cup
with water in order to be able to paint
reinforces independence
I also worked with some of the children
with writing their 1st name..
wow look at how tall
our towers are!
Abidaan was our yoga
instructor
downward dog
Xander led exercise
Run in place
Starting Monday (possibly tomorrow--if I get the tags made
ππ)
the job chart will be
ready and each
child will have their choice of what
job he/she wants to do each day!!
Prayer Requests
One of my very favorite parts of the day
I love to teach the children about prayer!!!
We work on 2 parts of a prayer...
when I take prayer requests
we work on the HELP ME
part of the prayer...
part of the prayer...
I talk to the children about being able
to ask GOD for help
with anything....
help heal boo-boo's
help a friend
have safe travels
help mom or dad, etc....
I absolutely LOVE hearing the
children's thoughts(prayers)
I then create a prayer with all our
friends prayer request
and then we go around the circle
and the children say a
THANK YOU part of our prayer...
I tell the children we should always PRAISE
God and tell HIM thank you...
I don't write these down BUT
each child says
Thank you God(or Jesus) for...
and then they says things they are thankful for....
this not only reinforcing learning about
prayer but also talking to a big group
(some friends are a little more shy( I was for sure that shy kid
when I was young) BUT
it is so wonderful to see them become more comfortable and be
able to share with their class!!
We work hard in lots of ways to create a CLASS FAMILY
we learned a new song...
our good bye rhyme
each day the line leader gets
to choose a good bye rhyme
Ella chose
Fly High, Butterfly
