SECOND STEPS

We looked closely at this picture

I asked the children how the little girl
(SUZY)in the picture on the left looks
How does she feel?

Lots of children said they thought
Suzy was sad.
1 person said mad
and 2 friends said grumpy

When then talked about how some people can feel differently
about same situation.... like Suzy feels sad because her friend
told her NO, I don't want to build a fort with you...
But it is OK if you might feel mad or grumpy...
Everyone feels differently

We then looked at the picture on the right...
we talked about how
Suzy looks now.... And we talked about what Jayden
may have said to make her feel better.

The children had LOTS of great thoughts and ideas
on how Jayden made Suzy feel better.

We sometimes have similar situations in our classroom
One friend will ask another friend to play
The one friend says NO and then the other friend feels sad.
We thought of ways we could tell the
other friend without hurting their feelings...
Like ...
I am playing with(whoever) right
now but I will play with you when I am done
OR
I am playing with (whoever) would you like to play
with us.

Often preschool really are NOT saying I don't want to play
with YOU---they are really just saying
I am already playing  and don't want to stop.

I try to let the children know it is OK
if you don't want to stop playing
BUT we always have to be NICE.
And say nice words to other friends

Today's helpers.......

So today I knew it would NOT be as muddy
BUT still some mud

SO before we went outside I told the children to think:
Do I want to play in the MUD KITCHEN today?
If the answer is YES, then go put on boots!

If the answer is NO, just leave your tennis shoes on
and get your coat and line up

I reminded the children if they chose NO and
didn't put their boots on to remember to
stay out of the mud!

I did this to get the children
thinking ahead--- making a plan---
and following through with their plan!!!

THIS GROUP DID WONDERFULLY!!!

LOTS AND LOTS Of  RUNNING

Our Q word list...

VOTING for the name of our
PARTY>>>>

we should know by tomorrow which
name is the winner

The Joy Party
The Best Friend Party
The Valentines Party
The Love Party

we just had a few friend today
they still needed to vote...

VOTING TEACHES SO MANY SKILLS:

It is interesting to watch
some of the children when voting....
I think some of the children who just want the name they chose to win
or just want to do what most are doing----

They just go for the one that
already has the most---
I however ask...
tell me which name you like
and then I show you which container to put it in.
I really want to teach the children to be independent
thinkers and not chose based upon what someone else wants...

I even had a few children say, " What did
so and so vote--- but again I encourage
them to make their own choices

CENTER TIME

Cecilia is really enjoying
reading the bible..

Arwen helped a friend
so she put a heart
on our kindness heart

Ella also reading the bible

HOCKEY

ART

Arwen enjoyed the dramatic play
the almost the entire center time

SO our hockey got cut short by a few minutes when we could not find
the hockey BALL. Almost the whole class was looking for it!!

IT was a BIG MYSTERY!!!
The children actually left for the day before we found it!!

BUT as soon as everyone left--- I went on a hunt and found it!!

I found it in the bathroom between the trash can
and the door!!!--- well hidden
Most of us looked through the bathrooms several times!!

But let your children know
MYSTERY was solved and we can play
hockey again tomorrow!!
