Morning Work
We are beginning each morning with
our name journals
This is a fun counting game
that reinforces 1 to 1
correspondence.....
up to the number 16
Winston enjoys the
challenge of this puzzle
I made this out of foam squares
with a heart design on it....
I also made it with a pattern to
help the children solve it....
it is a 3x3x3 grid
and alternating colors
plus one specific corner is always
at the top
the corner with a hole always is the top left...
All these hints can help
the children solve the puzzle
with, of course, the heart pictures....
(and then if they still need
help I numbered the back)
He is proud of himself!
Lincoln told me he made a boat
and after that he was making me cake
and spicy gingerbread cookies

Morning Meeting
Cecilia was our
attendance helper
1 friend not at school
15 friends here
Cecilia also got to hold
ZEBRA today
Charlotte was our
invocation leader
This is our Jesus time story today
I first ask the children
to tell me what they remember about
this story from the picture
Then we acted (part of it) out with me being
Zacchaeus, the tax collector
I gave everyone 5 pieces of money
and then I said today is Tax Day and
I collected money from everyone. But I pretended to be like
Zacchaeus and collect different amounts from
different people. Zacchaeus was dishonest
and kept some of the money for himself
So ..... from some people I took 1 piece of money
BUT from others I may have asked for 4 or even 5
pieces!!
I asked the children how they
felt when I took only 1 pieces from their
friend and ALL the pieces
from them or others.....
Everyone agreed it wasn't fair and they
understood why the people didn't like Zacchaeus
Then I retold the whole story
using the storyboard
At the end, I reminded them that no
matter what the sins we do JESUS always
will LOVE us and he cares for each and everyone
of us!!
Jesus forgave Zacchaeus and helped
him be a better person and JESUS
forgives us and will help us too!!
Today's Helpers....

The class is working hard
to come up with LOTS of D words
Then we did 2nd Steps
This is Michael
We looked at this card
we talked about how we thought he was feeling by just looking at him
(his eyes, his mouth, the way he is holding his hands, etc)
Many friends said he looked, sad, worried, scared, angry...
Then I told the class a little more...
Michael's grandma is late picking him up and he is the last friends left....
Then I asked the children how they would feel
most still said sad, worried a few more said angry and one said
disappointed...
I explained that everyone may feel differently about the same situation... and that is OK
I then asked the children what they could do if
they saw a friend looking like this...
some answers were
give him a hug, asked him what would make him feel better, one person said bring him to her mom
so he knew an adult was there to help him, someone said make him a picture
I LOVE how engaged the children were and EVERYONE was really thinking
and came up with great ideas!!!
