HAPPY 1st DAY

We had an AMAZING day!!!!

After the children come into

the classroom, each child hung up

his/her back pack, then puts his/her water bottle.

snack and folder into his/her cubby.

Then each child

"signs in"

washes his/her hands

and then finds 

"morning work"

Morning Work is a variety of

activities at

the tables.

Children can chose any morning

activity they would like to do.

Morning work is about 15 mins as we wait for 

all the other children to arrive

Colton chose to color 1st 

Hazel is using the rubber bands

and peg boards.

This is a great activity

to build fine motor skills

Hayden is using the mini blocks to build

Lincoln came to join

Hayden and he was playing with the 

people

Addie is using mini rubber bands

and colored popsicle sticks

This is a fun activity that reinforces color matching

as well as fine motor skills

When morning work is over OR anytime I have something important

to say:   I will SAY:

1-2-3 FREEZE your knees!

Then the children STOP what they

are doing and put their hands on

their knees!

I then give an announcement

of what is going to happen next!

This time is was

CLEAN UP!

We worked on getting the room clean 

before the song was over

Then we came to sit on the blue carpet

on most "normal" days

we will come to the carpet for JESUS TIME

and SECOND STEPS

BUT

today being the 1st day

we just learned how to sit on the carpet....

We always sit on the "edge"

and the children can CHOSE

which "POSE" is most comfortable for their own body

Some kiddos just have a hard time staying in

one "pose" or it is hard to expect a little 

person to sit "criss cross"

the whole time...

SO we learned several NEW poses

Everyone enjoyed getting to 

make their own choices about

how they were most comfortable!

Giving children LOTS of opportunities to make

choices is an important part

of preschool!!!

We then sang a song

to help us learn everyones

name

Then we lined up to go outside

Each child got to chose a shape

to stand on...

and then I told them I had something

"tricky"

to teach them....

I asked them if they thought they could do

"tricky"

and everyone eagerly agreed they could

WALKING IN A LINE.....

This is a super hard concept for young children

and some walk faster than others.

But I told them how important it is for us to

stay together as we walk

to the playground.

So I told each child he/she needed to stay behind

the person in front of them!!

I explained what "behind" means

and showed each child who he/she needed to

stay behind

I

I was pretty impressed

with this line!!!

And Roman asked to join in....... I love seeing new friendships

forming.....

We haven't started jobs yet...... but some of our friends from

last year remembered some of the jobs...... so Addie

is "SIT BY THE TEACHER"

When we pray we are showing

respect to God..... so we FOLD OUR HANDS,

BOW OUR HEADS and CLOSE OUR EYES

SNACK MANAGER is another job and that person gets

to call each child by name to go to snack!!

This was also a very popular job

last year!

 it is great because it helps the children

learn each others names

Today we took a WHOLE SCHOOL PHOTO!!!!!

The whole school put on their

red shirts 

and we formed a cross

A drone flow over us and took the photo.....

CENTER TIME

For the first few days we will slowly introduce

the centers. We walked around as a class and

We were SO BUSY that 

we (well ME) ........lost track of time..... it went SO

 fast and everyone was doing SO great

That we didn't get to the blue carpet again until

about 5 mins before having to get outside

So we skipped a few things that we will

 definitely learn over the next few weeks

(like exercise and pray requests)

Today we did practice a

thank you prayer

I say a short prayer and then give each child a 

chance to say

THANK YOU JESUS FOR......

and they can say anything they are thankful for....

End of day prayer is the sweetest part

of our day
