Planting Day
The class is excited about planting
Zoey started morning work
with coloring
Harrison started with play doh
Harrison, JJ and Levi
playing the
Life Cycle of a Butterfly game
Lyla joined in on the coloring
Harrison came over to color...
Lyla noticed Zoey is left handed
So they were discussing which hand
they like to use... Lyla tried using her left hand and noticed
she can not write with as much pressure(or as she said---when I use this hand
it looks really light)
Harrison joined in the conversation --trying both hand out
to see which one felt better to him
I love observing natural conversation
between preschoolers.....
I had a few kids work on their journals..
We are journaling
the Life Cycle of A
Butterfly.....
We have had our caterpillars for 7 days now...
somewhere between day 7-12 they
will work their way to the top and
form a J then build their chrysalis
Landon and Luke enjoying
the insect flannel board pieces
Beckett writing in his journal
Our 2 LHS helpers today
Emma Oswald(my daughter)
and Kayla Fieberkorn
They got a few things prepped for us..
moving brick to put in the
bottom of our troughs
MORNING MEETING
Nora was attendance helper
2 friends not at school today

Harrison volunteered to be
our invocation leader
The Road to Emmaus
Today's Helpers
OUTSIDE
A few friends at a time got to help move
dirt, rocks and recylcables
into the trough to help fill space and also
help with drainage...
** huge thank you for recycling donations-
it was perfect and we had a few bottles leftover
so I added them to our
creation recycling and the kids were already enjoying
creating with them.....
walking from our playground
to the pineyard
Harrison and JJ were excited to see
Audrey, Harrison's sister
Filling the huge troughs...
Lyla and Aavya playing
with a rolly polly(we talk about
being gentle!!)
We got fresh topsoil..
the kids were so happy
and excited
Over on the pineyard the kids were
helping loosen
the dirt we moved from the
troughs before spring break
My daughter, Emma from Lutheran High
and Sue, Mrs Cooper's MIL, also helped
LOTS of hard work
but they loved it!
Oaklynn was our librarian
the book she chose
Levi was weather helper
Zoey was prayer leader
Lyla was snack manager
snack
Lyla getting her
estimation jar ready
Phonics ABC
Landon was teacher assistant
JJ was our entomologist....
The caterpillars are working their way up to the top..
very close to making their "J's"
we will have chrysalis soon
Lyla brought stuffies...
Giving a few hints... I told the class when they guess (estimate)today
look at the size of the stuffies..they take up more room....
so it may not be as big of a number
10 .....
The children are liking the dress up
wings I have for dramatic play
BUT
of course when you are wearing wings---you need to RUN!!
Which makes it a little challenging during center time
SO I was trying to think of a way to make it OK
to run when wearing the insect wings....
NEXT week I think we will make our own
wings..
the first picture is a rain gauge BUT we could use a similar
shape or the next picture is an example of
butterfly wings....
I will put more info in my Friday note
CENTER TIME
Zoey putting on the
ladybug wings
NOW for the planting...
I wish we had more area to plant
because everyone
wanted to do more than one..
I will get pictures of the finished
troughs and put in our Friday note..
our day flew by....
a few friends helped transport water....
Millie was our
superintendent
Ava was our
exercise leader
she chose sit ups
Harrison had already chosen his
yoga posture and then just started
right into it..
showing us exactly how it is done..
COW POSTURE
Beckett was our
line leader

he chose
