YOU GET TO OBSERVE OUR CATERPILLARS

AND REPORT TO THE CLASS WHAT IS HAPPENING

I asked the class if anyone knew

what the word 

entomologist meant...

(a scientist who studies insects)

JJ was able to tell us

I asked him if he remembered from last year or knew

from the picture

He said he knew from the picture...

which is great problem solving!

JESUS TIME...

We started with this

optical illusion photos...

I had several more I showed the class...

These pictures are a little like otday's

bible story...

It was the evening of the

1st Easter ever..

and 2 of Jesus followers were

walking to the town of Emmaus...

they were talking about all the things that 

had happened...

They had heard that when the women went to the tomb

that morning Jesus wasn't there....

they were confused

Then a man joined them and asked

then what they were talking about 

The 2 men told the man everything

they invited the man to stay for dinner

when the man did

and broke bread in front of them

Their eyes were OPENED

and they could SEE it was JESUS

Just like the pictures we

started Jesus time with

The men couldn't see at first that it

was Jesus BUT then they did

(like at 1st we could only see our picture was a rabbit or the duck--a

fter a bit most of us saw both)

Then Jesus disappeared right in

front of them

They ran all the way to Jerusalem to tell the 

others that JESUS IS ALIVE

Jesus wants us to continue spreading

that same message

Introducing our

Estimation Jar...

(more info in the Friday email)

I explain to the children how the estimation jar works

and that everyone will get a turn...

we talked about what kind of items can go into the

jar and what it means to

estimate...

to make a guess....

I will be sending letters home in backpacks

when it is your child's turn

We will do estimation jar each

day until everyone gets a turn...

I showed the children the jar

with the items in it....

and then ask each child to estimate

how many they think are in the jar

(1-15)

I tell them to think about how big the items

are that in the jar (like today the snake and other animals

are pretty small )... sometimes there can be a lot

of small items because they don't take up a lot of room

After everyone has made their guess...

we count how many items are in the jar

and then talk about how close we were
