HAPPY FRIDAY

WE HAVE MADE IT THROUGH
3 DAYS!!!!!

3 Friends who had their
1 st day today

This is how we sign in each morning

The children look for their
own name and then put it on the  I AM HERE board

Great for name recognition
we also use it for
attendance (our attendance helper
counts how many friends came to school each day)
If someone is absent, we talk about that and add
that child to our prayer requests

I want each child to feel how much we
want them at school each day
and helps us grow together as a class
family......

The children put all their items in their cubbies,
sign in and then wash their hands

Then get to choose a morning
work activity

Calvin chose these colorful blocks
to build with first!

Luke and Ben wanted to
do this puzzle first

Maisie trying out
the blocks

Charleigh started with
these stickers(to create a face
 and frog cutouts

Maisie coloring at the writing table

Calvin made a frog

Otto excited to build
a tall tower of pegs!

Samuel checking out the blocks
Otto decided to make a frog

Rowen building with the blocks

These blocks were donated from Ellie's
family---- they have a family member who
owns a parrot shop and these
blocks are actually parrot toys....
But so cool to create with!!

Arwen is doing play

doh with Maisie

Arwen excited to show me what she
created with the blocks

When morning work is over
we clean up and then come
sit on the blue carpet

When on the blue carpet the children
can chose how they would like to sit

NOT everyone is comfortable in the same position
nor sitting in same position the WHOLE time.
So I tell the children it is their
CHOICE to decide how their body is comfortable----
I just ask that their bottoms stay on the
dot with their name on it----

EXAMPLES OF SITTING POSITIONS:

MOUNTAIN
(sitting on your knees)

Charleigh and Calvin
demonstrating the
LOUNGE position
(which is legs in front of you)

Lucas and Austin demonstrating
CRISS-CROSS
APPLESAUSE

Rowen is also showing us

And MERMAID
(legs bent to one side)

NOW YOGA......

We practiced each
pose..

This one is
SURFER POSE

Here is our YOGA CHART

Once jobs start, our yoga
instructor will chose 1 pose
and stand in the middle and demonstrate
to the class how to do it!

TREE POSE

SKI POSE

DOWNWARD DOG

Next we sang a song
to help us learn each others

Charleigh was our

LINING UP TO GO
OUTSIDE

Calvin was a door holder

Lucas was our
other door holder

Rowen was Gate Keeper

BEAUTIFUL WEATHER

Our Mud Kitchen

WOW!!! The tunnel is FUN!

Calvin wanted to explore
the tunnel too

Our playground is designed
to encourage children to
take "safe risks"

For example,
using the wooden stumps to
get up and down from
the "mountain"

going down the slide

Climbing these tires...
another great
"safe risks"

For some the lowest is where they
feel safe.

But it is the BEST to watch a child
start out at the lowest
tire and work their way up!

Sometimes they are really
feeling confident and
will stand up and then jump off
OR they stand and decided---maybe I will sit to get
down---either way
they are learning what they are
capable of and feeling
empowered to make that choice!!

Today I enjoyed watching Lucas start at the lowest
and work his way
all the way to the highest!!!

STORY TIME

Austin was our
weather helper

The weather helper choices
what the weather is like today
and then makes it on the chart.

Many things happened with this today

As Austin put up the 2nd sunny
the kids immediately said
We have had 2 sunny days and 1 rainbow!!!

YES!!!! Learning through the environment
around them!!!

Otto was our prayer leader

Here is a picture of
the prayer
he chose today

(whoops--- I didn't realize it flipped)

Luke was our
snack manager today

SNACK MANAGER
calls the friends to snack

A great way to encourage learning
a friends names

FIRE DRILL

About 15 mins before, I talked with
the children about what to do for a
fire drill.  Today we did the drill WITHOUT
the loud sound!! Just our principals came around
and said FIRE DRILL.

I explained to the children when I say
go stand on a STOP SIGN, they should stop whatever they are doing, leaving
everything right where it is and line up on the stop signs.
We then exit the building and go across the parking lot.

We stand on the white line while we
are being accounted for------ it went
very smoothly!!!

Back inside to finish snack

HAND WRITING WITHOUT TEARS

yesterday I introduced
BIG LINE
and
LITTLE LINE

showed them how we can use lines
to form letters.......

everyone was so excited to
tell which letters
these are....

We then got to use the
lines for activity about following directions......

First direction:
please keep the lines in front of
you until the music starts

SO HARD>>>>

But look at these kiddos!!!

They are doing it!!!

we then listened to
Tap, Tap Tap song
which gives lots of directions
and how to move the lines!!!

The children LOVE this!

CENTER TIME

WE EXPLORES THE REST OF THE CENTERS
WE HADN'T USED YET!

Blocks

All the manipulatives.....

ART EASEL

A FEW FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
PHOTOS......

Samuel enjoying the dramatic play
Calvin building

Rowen enjoying the
work bench

Samuel Painting

I did some individual work with the
children today too

Self Portraits
(Otto checking himself out
in the mirror)

Arwen ad Charleigh
enjoyed art today!!

How tall I am??
I am taking everyone's picture
at beginning of the school year
and then again at the end

I am always SO surprised
how much they grow!!!

Austin wanted to do art
today too

TRAINS

Calvin wanted to use the art easel
Part of using the art easel is
filling the cup up 1/2 way
so you have water to paint.....

Encourages independence!!!

Lucas really enjoys the magnetic
blocks

Samuel

Austin asked Lucas if he
could play with him

At the end of center time,
we clean up and then
go to the blue aroet
for exercise time

PUSH UPS

Arwen has been expressing
interest in the musical
instruments the last 2 days...

So today we had enough time
to PLAY music

each child got to chose
one instrument to play and then
after one song
we put each instrument back in the middle and
I chose different children to pick
first BECAUSE many wanted the
same instrument. We did talk about
how you may NOT get the one you wanted the most
---BUT that is OK---you still get to play an instrument and
we will have LOTS of opportunities  throughout the year
to play!

get YouTube video for
young kids to play along

teaches following direction and
rhythm (shaking or playing
to a beat)

the children didn't want to stop
But we needed to put the
instruments away for prayer

PRAYER

Everyone got to say
THANK YOU JESUS
FOR>>>>>>

In or week or 2, we will
learn about Prayer Requests

Our Good Bye Rhyme

provided opportunities throughout the day
for rhyming is an important to develop
language formation, learning about sounds and words.
And helps children develop early literacy skills!
