Zacchaeus

we learned the story of Zacchaeus today

Zacchaeus was a tax collector who

was not very honest

I passed out gold coins to each child

everyone got 3 coins to beginning

Then I explain to the children Zacchaeuas' job was to collect

taxes for the king. But he wasn't

always honest. He sometimes told

the people they owed more than really did so he could

keep the money for himself

So I pretended to be Zacchaeus and asked 

each child for a different amount. I then asked them if they thought this was fair. Some had lots of coins

and some had no coins left

No one thought this was fair

Then I told the children that Zacchaeus heard Jesus was coming 

to town and he really wanted to met Jesus

So Zacchaeus, who was very short, climbed up a tree to see Jesus as he came

through town. Jesus knew about Zacchaeus and walked right over to the tree he was in

and said, "Come down from that tree. I am coming to your house for dinner!"

Wow !! All of the people were surprised!! Why would Jesus want to go to Zacchaeus'

house when he did dishonest things. But Jesus knew Zacchaeus' heart and Jesus forgives

anyone who asks for it!!  After that meeting Zacchaeus was a changed man.

He gave back all the money he stole and began to follow Jesus

STORY TIME

A book all about stars and planets

We concentrated on just the sun and the 

1st planet closest to the sun

Mercury

Luke was the weather helper

We didn't have a prayer leader

so Carly asked to do it today

Tristan was snack manager

Wyatt was our SHOW AND SHARE today!

I love how the children listen to each other

then raise their hands to say something about what

the SHOW ANS SHARE person brought in

MYSTERY BAG

I showed pictures of a jar,

 jumping, Jupiter and a jellyfish

Then I showed the pieces we need to make the letter

many friends knew it was a J

But it was a challenge for them to use the pieces

and make it without seeing a picture of a J

quite a few friends came up to try

most got very close but

we just kept trying

it was a great learning experience

Then the children told me words

they knew that starts with the letter J

CENTER TIME

we had a block of ice from the week it got so cold

so today we put it in a container and melted it

Laura wanted to work on her own book

Ella and Tristan helping paint our "SUN"

chose trains to work with first

thinking of ways to make one in our classroom

we put stars under the table and tomorrow I will bring blankets

and flashlight and we can lay under the table and "VIEW" the stars

Luke was building a rocket with the magnets
