ESTIMATION JAR
I filled the jar with a few toys from our classroom
gave each child a number line 1-15
we pointed and counted together
I walked around and let each child get a good look
at the jar
Then I had each child "estimate" how many
trucks where in the jar
Then we counted out how many where actually in the jar
They enjoyed it so much they wanted to do it again!!!
BTW: there were 10 in the jar
We had a surprise visitor

A little SCIENCE
Why we have day and night
showing the children the globe and how
earth constantly rotates
Showed a picture of the sun "SHINING" on Earth
Then I used a flashlight as the SUN
to give more of a visual of the sun
shining on EARTH
Where the flashlight was shining is where it is DAY
where you see no light is where it is night
then I showed the children that the Earth is constantly rotating
but also orbiting around the sun
we will try acting this out a few more times to help understand
Charlie was the sun
I was Earth
then we did prayer and then it was the end of day
