Today we started choosing jobs......
Then Caroline and Teagan found activities to do for Morning Work
Caroline was doing a great job counting the gems
Nora choosing her job
Then for morning work she chose to color first
Bristle Blocks are a lot of FUN
Caroline enjoys these counter which are shaped like people and cats
Brody choosing his job.I thought maybe he would chose his favorite from last year, but he didn't he chose Weather Helper.... a new job this year!
Then for morning work he came a worked with the colorful gems
Charlie working on getting on his things out of his backpack to put in his cubby
Ella is ready for school!! She walked right in and knew exactly what to do!!
She looks SO grown up!!!
Charlie was looking for his favorite job..... milk helper! But it isn't one of the choices this year, so he decided on Gate Keeper!
Then Charlie decided to build with the bristle blocks
Luke choosing his job... snack manager
Luke asked if he could use the people from the block area with the magnets so he could build them houses!!! Sure.... Great Idea and I liked the way he asked!!
Look at how many people Luke fit into the house he built for them!
Ella was proud to show off her creation( I think she said it was a robot)
Practicing.. FREEZE YOUR KNEES!!!!
Freeze your knee is a way to get everyones attention at once. I say 1-2-3... FREEZE YOUR KNEES... and everyone needs to stop what they are doing and listen. I may have something important to tell them or it may be time to clean up!
This is just another way to reinforce listening skills!
I noticed a few friends get their hands wet, put soap on and immediate start rinsing....
This video steps through proper hand washing... I will email the link so you can review with your kiddos at home too.
Second Steps:
We looked at this picture card. It is of a little boy, Talik. I asked the children by looking
at the picture how do you think he is feeling? So many great answers... scared, nervous and worried!
We then talked about what we can do if we ever feel that way and what we can say if we see a friend who feels sad, worried or nervous!
The children then all practiced introducing themselves to the picture card, because it was Talik's 1st day of school. And we talked about how it may help someone feel better if they know the names of the friends at school. The children did a REALLY good job of saying, "Hi! My name is...... "
The children doing the SKI POSE
Learning how to say the Invocation
Then I showed the children our pray wall. I asked the children if they had anyone they wanted us to pray for..... anyone who may be sick, hurt or traveling. Anytime they have a pray request we will write it on a sticky note and put it on our prayer wall. Then at the end of day pray, we will pray for those people!
We tehn talked about how much JESUS LOVES EACH AND EVERYONE OF THEM!!!!
LOTS OF RUNNING AND PICKING UP LOGS AND STICKS
These boys working together to carry this really big log
They decided it must weigh 1 million pounds !!!
Then with all the logs they collect the built a "fire" in the"fire pit"
Almost everyone wanted to help with the fire pit!
Caroline having fun in the tunnel
Story Time
Brody was our weather helper today
SUNNY
Teagan chose to be our prayer leader
Luke was our snack manager
Handwriting Without Tears
We are practicing with lines....
Lines help us make letters
This line is called Big Line
We have a really fun song we can sing Tap Tap Tap
It is really great for reinforcing following directions
And is really a lot of FUN!!
And also talking about how to use the ramps and balls, tunnels, etc
I think center time is one of the favorite parts of the day
Great job using the art easel....
If you notice a few centers do not have chairs........this is purposeful!
It builds core and leg strength to stand while painting!!!
I do have a stool just in case, but I mostly encourage the children to stand
A few children had self portraits to work on today with me
Teagan said, " How do you make an E?" Luke immediately offered help and came over to show her!
Charlie choosing books to read in the calming corner
Ella bringing her finished art over to her cubby
