Morning Work:

Caroline and I had fun for a few minutes this morning before others arrived

                                        We sorted the counter family
                                       Counted and lined up beautiful gems
                                                  Built with the rocks
When Ella got to school she chose coloring first. She was eager to make a picture for her mom and dad
                                          Caroline came over to join her
                       Brody built with the bristle blocks when he got to school
                                        Aiden colored when he got to school
                                    Tristan chose the gems when he got to school
                         After Ella colored she joined Brody with the bristle blocks
                                   LOTS OF FUN during morning work time
                                   Aiden enjoyed sorting the gems
                                          Tristan wrote a letter o his brother
                                       Ella's bristle block creation
                                                   Brody's creation

Second Steps:

I showed the children a picture

The picture was of a little boy holding his dad's hand on the first day of school


I asked the children to think about how they THINK this boy is feeling by the look on his face
The children did a great job thinking of feelings: SCARED and NERVOUS were a few ideas
We then talked about how if we see a friend who is feeling scared or nervous 

what we can say to make them feel better:

Some ideas were... it's ok, school is fun

the teachers are nice

its ok, I will help you
great ideas!!





YOGA TIME:
Aiden chose out yoga pose... TREE
                     The children immediately remembered TREE and began doing it!!!

Jesus Time:


Look at how sweet these kiddos are:

Invocation:

Here are the words:

The invocation Leader says:   We being in the name of God the Father

Rest of class says: Who created us(hold up 1 finger)


Leader: And in the name of God the Son:

Class: We died for us(making a cross with fingers)


Leader: And in the name of God the Holy Spirit

Class: Who comforts us (hugging ourselves)




We then read a story from the bible: Jesus loves the Little Children



OUTSDIE TIME:





Lots of climbing...


walking up and down on the tree stumps
using our muscles to move heavy items...

                                            Aiden was "selling" donuts

Tristan was asking friends to race him

                                                 RACING


So fun to run around outside




Lining up to come inside

After we come in, we go potty and wash our hands then come to brown carpet to read books until everyone is done

I read a cute FICTION story : Don't Eat Your Classmates

I asked the children if they thought this story was true.... a real story... non fiction

or

a pretend, made up, fiction story......
The children did a good job of deciding it was fiction... dinosaurs don't go to school

and we don't eat our classmates
The Aiden helped with the weather chart

Ella led our prayer before snack
We are learning several different prayer.. right now we do them ECHO...they repaeat after me

Tristan called the friends to snack
This is a great way to learn names

The children really enjoy our picnic snacks





Then a very short playtime after eating..... walking on the railroad tile is great for balance




Hand Writing Without Tears:

I introduced BIG Line and Little Line

I asked the children to show me their BIG line
Then their Little Line



The children loved singing a song with the lines that reinforces follow directions

Tap, Tap, Tap (name of the song)


The song asks us to do all sorts of things...tap our heads, behing our backs, etc....




Next we learned about our job chart


Jobs are such a great way to teach a sense of community and belong to the class. 

The children feel responsibility and like HELPING on the classroom.


Also the children learn how to makes choices as well as problem solve if the job they want is taken
I pointed to each job and explained what it was (most already knew them all....as wee have been practicing since the first day)
Tomorrow when they come to school...they can choose a job after they wash their hands



CENTER TIME:

We learned how to use the art easel today
It was a popular choice... everyone was excited to paint


ART?Creation Station is also a popular area.....



I worked individually with each child today 
The children looked at a picture of themselves and then drew a self portrait

Tristan enjoyed these colored tiles and discovered if you put 2 colors together

you can make new colors...

Everyone then wanted a turn with the colored tiles...


Dramatic play


Aiden came over to the book area

Ella asked to led us at exercise time.....  PUSH UPS!!!
Pretty good job for the 1st time doing push ups together!!!


We learned about our Prayer Wall and added our friends who weren't at school today

I told the children anytime they had someone they wanted to pray for we could add it to our prayer wall
then we each said part of a THANK YOU JESUS FOR........ prayer



 SUCH A GREAT DAY!!!  The children are really learning the routine and having a great time together!
