Morning Work

I made a few new activities for morning work:

A provocation is like an invitation to play. It allows and encourages open ended
play or creating. It helps the children become independent thinkers.

Below is an example:

I put out mirror, cork boards(circle shaped) and a variety of
loose parts. I invited to children to look in the mirrors and then create
something on the cork boards

Another new morning work activity.... roll and cover... a different spin on bingo

this game teaches number recognition and counting.  The children roll a die and

then use the gem to cover the number they rolled. They can try to roll until they

make or line or cover the whole board

LINES.... lines are important part of the world. Lines are everywhere and we use lines to form some letters as we start introducing letters... I will show the children what lines make that letter. Here I am just showing different lines and encouraging the children to use rocks or gems to cover the lines...

Caroline really enjoy the roll and cover games (plus this game goes along with our Jesus Time story for this week.... CREATION)

Ella choosing her job, then she joined us at the roll and cover game
Claire choosing her job for today

Aiden and Tristan arrived at school..

                                                      SECOND STEPS

We had 2 new friends (PUPPETS). Jay J came back for this lessons and Rosetta had her first day. Tis lesson was to teach the children about LISTENING! Rosetta was very excited for her first day of school and was talking and bouncing around. The children help Rosetta learn how to sit on the blue carpet and listen

When then learn steps to help us be good listeners:

Eyes... are watching

Ears... are listening

Voices,,,,, quiet

bodies... calm

                                                              JESUS TIME

God created the world!!!

The children remembered that all the stories

from the bible are true (non fiction)

After we read from the bible we had a few minutes before we had to go outside

so they children shared stories about their weekend. They are doing such a great job of raising their hands to share

Lining up to go outside and walking to the play ground

Second Steps

Mystery bag...... today I introduced our mystery bag. Whenever I introduce a new letter
I will have items hidden in the bag that begin with that letter.
I show the children the items or pictures of items) one at a time. We wait until everyone has seen the it then we say what it is. After all items are shown, we try to discover what the mystery letter is for that week

Lion, leaf, ladybug and lamp where the clues...
L is our letter.... to make the letter you need a BIG LINE and a LITTLE LINE

The children then told me words that start with the letter L

Next I showed the children how we are going to start signing in..... find the rock with your name on it and if you are at school today put it in the basket
They really enjoyed finding the rock with their name on it
