We had a surprise GUEST!!

Kennedy's dad brought us a 

special treat today!!

A real meteorite!!!!!

He talked to us about how a

LONG, LONG, LONG time ago

this was floating around in outer space

when floating around in outer space it

is a meteoroid  

Meteoroids are space rocks that range

 in size from dust grains to small asteroids

When it hits Earth it is then a meteorite

A meteorite is a solid piece of debris from an object, such as a comet, asteroid, or meteoroid, that originates in outer space and survives its passage through the atmosphere to reach the surface of a planet or moon.

Then at some point it hit Earth

this was found in Argentina 

(long time ago)

Mr Jay showed us on the

globe where Argentina is....

He also let each student hold the

meteorite

The children were

very excited to hold it...

it is much heavier than it looks!!
