Today's Helpers
OUTSIDE:
Slightly drizzling
and very windy!!!
I think we only stayed out
about 10 mins
Luke was librarian...
we are starting to reread and also
enjoy some of the books that have
been donated!!!
Luke donated this one...
The class
LOVED
this book!!!
Lucas was weather helper
windy!!!
Calvin was prayer leader
Charleigh was snack manager
snack
Calvin getting his items
for estimation jar
Samuel was teacher assistant
Monster Trucks!!!
I loved that I overheard kids
working out their estimations.....
saying things like
well they are big SO there is probably
not as many even though the jar is full!!!
YES!!!!
10 monster trucks!!!!!!
We had some great estimations today!!!
Entomologist Austin....
using the magnifying glass
to check out the chrysalis
giving me the thumbs up that they are good
Day 3
we learned that they will
stay in their chrysalis for at least 10 days
I bought this surprise for the class
and forgot it at home yesterday
I told yesterdays class I would bring it today
Maisie was so excited and reminded me
about the surprise MANY times!!
Good Memory !!!
It is a projector
you can add different slides
and it will project
different space stuff...
the whole solar system
kids were spread out to get a good view
which you could see it from many locations...mostly
just getting room dark enough
the planets are slightly orbiting too
the moon
the milky way
Earth
Then we made
MOON SAND!!!!
8 parts flour
1 part baby oil
everyone got to help
in some way...
adding the flour
adding the 1 part baby oil
and also mixing...
then we got to play with it
moon sand is unique...
you can mold it together
and it will keep its shape
BUT
then crumble it apart!!!
very fun!!
hard to see but we also added
sequins to represent the planets
we moved the
moon sand into a big taller container
easier for kids to sit on the ground with it
Taking individual pic of
the children with the
planet artwork they created to represent
the planet they choice
Ben, Luke and Austin
were using the ramps
the boys asked me to help them figure
out a way to keep the balls from just rolling
on the ground at the end of the ramp
I was working with children on their
Mother's day presents, so I told them I thought
they could figure out a solution
and they DID!!!
They empty the container that holds the
ramps and put it at the end
of the shelf and it caught all the balls!!!
GOOD PROBLEM SOLVING!!
MOON SAND
was a favorite center today!!

I told the class we would add our chrysalis to the
butterfly habitat BUT we were SO SO
busy with our space projector, making planet
bracelets and working on
Mother's Day presents.....
our DAY flew by!!!
But Mrs Koenen safely transferred
them into the habitat after class
